Support for renaming Kirovohrad to Kropyvnytskyi has reached 25%

This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the SmartPoll sociological group in November 2018.

25% of respondents stated that they support the renaming of Kirovohrad to Kropyvnytskyi, which took place in 2016. At the same time, 23% of residents noted that Yelysavethrad would be a better name for the city. The options “Zlatopil” and “Inhulsk” were chosen by less than 1% of the respondents.

Meanwhile, 49% of residents stated that they do not support changing the city’s name from Kirovohrad to any other.

The survey was conducted in November 2018. A total of 1,021 residents of Kropyvnytskyi aged 18 and older were interviewed. The statistical margin of error does not exceed 2.5%.

It should be noted that a similar survey was conducted in April 2016 by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) and the “Rating” Sociological Group. At that time, only 4% of residents supported renaming the city to Kropyvnytskyi. 57% demanded to keep the name Kirovohrad, and 31% proposed naming the city Yelysavethrad.
